Gold Grip Vises began inside Custom Contract Manufacturing Services, where machinists regularly faced the challenge of securing large, complex and difficult-to-fixture components.
Invented by CCMS founder Jason McMann, Gold Grip was developed as a modular CNC workholding system that could adapt to the work instead of limiting it. The system uses the machine table as part of the workholding solution, providing greater machining access while reducing setup complexity.

Why Gold Grip Was Developed
At CCMS, large and irregular components often required time-consuming setups, custom fixtures or clamps that restricted access to the workpiece. Gold Grip was developed to solve those everyday machining challenges.
By positioning the clamping system around the component, machinists could secure difficult parts while keeping more surfaces accessible. The result was a more flexible approach that could be reconfigured as the work changed—particularly valuable in high-mix machining where the next component may be completely different.

Tested on Real CCMS Machining Work
Gold Grip was developed and tested on real production work at CCMS. These early applications included securing a 120 × 80-inch, 8,000-pound steel plate while maintaining open access to the machining surface.

From CCMS to Gold Grip Vises
Gold Grip Vises grew from practical problem-solving inside an Ontario machine shop. Designed and assembled in Canada by machinists who understand the demands of large-part and high-mix machining, the system continues to be shaped by real production experience.
